3 institutional investors agree to buy 50% of Romania's AnimaWings
Romania's BT Asset Management SAI, Winners Holding Investments, and EVERGENT Investments have agreed to buy a combined 50% stake in local airline AnimaWings.
"The investment builds on an already validated business model and accelerates the company’s expansion plans, bringing top-tier financial expertise, access to business networks, and strategic support," AnimaWings said on Thursday. Financial details of the deal, completion of which is pending regulatory approvals, were not disclosed.
BT Asset Management SAI, part of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, has assets under management that exceed RON 10 billion (EUR 1.9 billion). Winners Holding Investments brings a diversified portfolio across multiple sectors, while Bucharest Stock Exchange-listed EVERGENT Investments manages assets of over RON 4 billion.
Founders Marius Pandel and Cristian Pandel will retain their shareholder status, with Marius Pandel continuing to lead the company as CEO.
Founded in 2020, AnimaWings is a 100% Romanian airline developed within Memento Group, alongside the tour operator Christian Tour.
AnimaWings' current fleet includes seven modern Airbus aircraft, with plans to expand to 14 aircraft by the end of 2027. During the summer season, the airline will operate 60 routes to 30 destinations, covering both domestic flights and major European routes.
Why it matters:
The deal signals growing investor confidence in Romania’s aviation and tourism sectors, as institutional capital backs the expansion of a relatively young airline. It also highlights a broader trend of local financial groups supporting domestic companies' scale-up, with AnimaWings aiming to strengthen regional connectivity and compete more actively on European routes.
