MidEuropa finalizes sale of Serbia's Imlek
MidEuropa, a UK-based private equity investor focused on Central Europe, has completed the sale of Serbia's dairy producer Imlek to AJFH, a family holding of entrepreneur and investor Andrej Jovanovic, as the lead investor, and current Imlek CEO Bojan Radun, adviser to the seller Karanovic & Partners, said on Tuesday.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
MidEuropa agreed to sell Imlek, which operates in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Croatia, in November.
The private equity firm acquired Imlek in 2015, along with Serbian confectionery producer Bambi, and local mineral water producer Knjaz Milos, both of which it later divested.
According to its website, MidEuropa has no more active investments in Serbia.
To date, MidEuropa has raised and managed funds of over €6.5 billion and completed 46 investments and over 290 add-on acquisitions across 20 countries.
Why it matters:
The sale of Imlek marks the full exit of MidEuropa from Serbia, closing a decade-long investment cycle in which the private equity firm consolidated and later divested major Serbian consumer brands. It also signals continued local ownership consolidation under domestic investors, while highlighting ongoing private equity activity in Central and Southeast Europe as funds recycle capital into new opportunities.
